Monthly Favorites | February 2016

Hi everyone!

March is among us but we can’t forget the best of February. I tried some new products out last month and I think I gained enough for a favorites post finally! Without further adieu here are my February Favorites!

My go-to look for the month was and still is a simple, fresh face. So of course, I’ve been using BB creams all month! My two favorites are the Rimmel Wake Me Up BB Cream in the shade light the Pur-lisse BB Cream which I received from ipsy in my October Glam Bag. The Rimmel is probably my favorite of the two because it makes my skin look so fresh and glowy. Not to mention that it’s like $6!

My other favorite face product for the month was the Fresh Rose Face Mask from Sephora. No… I did not pay $62 I actually received this as a gift from Sephora for my birthday back in December! I just finally dug it up out of my drawer and have been using it almost daily! This stuff is great but I can’t justify purchasing it when I run out #CollegeBudgetProbs.

Sticking with make-up I have two more products I used literally every day of February. They’re both MAC lip products. The first is MAC Stripdown. No surprise here folks. MAC Stripdown is one of the most hyped up lipliners I’ve ever witnessed, and now I know why. It pairs so well with so many nude shades!

Which brings me to the next product, MAC Honeylove. For those of you who don’t know, this is a nude matte lipstick and it is everything. I forgot how much I appreciate nude lipsticks. While I do love those dark vampy lip colors, nothing beats a perfect nude.

The last few products are not makeup products but are beauty related. The first is the new St. Ives Nourish & Soothe Oatmeal & Shea Butter Body Lotion. This lotion was sent to me for free from Influenster for review purposes and I’m in love. The winter months are deathly to my dry skin. This lotion has been so good to me. It smells amazing and just locks in the moisture. This is something I’ll definitely be repurchasing when needed!

This next product is something I’ve used probably about 6 years ago and loved so I was curious to see if they have the same effect today. They’re the Crest 3D White Strips. I used these back in the day and I swear my teeth stayed white for years. I finally just started noticing some yellowing and I was really starting to become self-concious over it. I bought these white strips and I am feeling much more confident after using  these. Yes, I know it’s bad to use them for long periods of time which is why I’ve waited so long and while I am experiencing some sensitivity it is very minor and so worth it!

My last product favorite is this candle for Bath & Body Works. I love their candles and they always have great sales! This candle has quickly become a favorite and it is the Stress Relief candle. This is so soothing and fresh smelling. It actually relaxes me and I don’t think I can do my homework without it at this point.

My last favorite of February was not a product but an app. Influenster is something I’ve been thinking about doing for so long and I finally joined. I thought it would be a while before I got chosen for their free Vox Boxes but I’ve already received two!! The first being St. Ives, and the second I’ll be doing a whole post on! The app is really awesome for people starting up a blog or a Youtube Channel looking for ways to review products in an affordable way, and what’s more affordable than free?!

Well everyone, those are my February favorites. I hope you enjoyed! Let’s see what March has to offer!

Favorite Winter Trends | 2016

Hi everyone!

I want to talk to you guys today about some of my favorite trends this winter. By no means am I a fashion expert but there are a few things I’m seeing a lot of this winter and I’m loving it.

Blanket Scarves

Blanket scarves are probably my favorite winter trend. It’s literally like walking around in a Snuggie, but socially acceptable. They can make an entire outfit and they’re extremely comfortable. What is there to lose?

The color Camel

This color is everything. All I can remember growing up was my mom telling me black and brown don’t match. Well that was before I new of this color. It is such a gorgeous neutral shade and it’s all I see this season!

High neck tops/turtlenecks

I never ever thought I would enjoy turtlenecks. I always thought they were unflattering and for “old ladies”. Well, let me tell you, has my opinion changed. These high neck tops are so chic! You can dress them up with jewelry or just keep it simple. Plus, the bonus to this is that I’m getting super pale and if my foundation doesn’t match my neck no one can tell ;).

Dark Vampy Lipstick

Lipstick has became an essential to my everyday life. It brings me life in the mornings and of course glam at night. These vampy colors are so popular in the winter months. Although I never thought I would be wearing dark lipstick it has quickly become my guilty pleasure. I almost don’t want the season to end so I can wear them forever!

Brand Favorites | e.l.f. Cosmetics

E.l.f. Cosmetics has made a huge come up in the past year! They have launched many quality products for extremely affordable prices. I’m not sure if e.l.f. has gone international yet but here in the U.S. it is expanding fast.

Today I want to share some of my personal favorites from the brand. However I’m leaving out brushes because I have another post in mind for that! E.l.f. products range for $1-$10. I’ve gotten some pretty amazing products over time and here are my favorites.

Studio Eyebrow Kit

I use this kit every day! You can see I even hit pan on the pomade/gel side. I just use an angled brush to apply the product and it can be used for a natural brow or a fuller look. This kit comes in 4 shades and retails for $3. You can’t be it!

High Definition Undereye Setting Powder

This setting powder is extremely gentle under the eyes and very brightening. It keeps my undereyes set all day long.

Blush Palette in Light

Yes, they even have palettes! For only $6 you can get 4 shades. They are awesome because you can pop the shades out and mix and match palettes. These hades are very pigmented so you have to be sure to use a light hand! I also love the large mirror; it is great for travel.

Lip Exfoliator

This product is my absolute favorite. Not only does it do a great job exfoliating but it is moisturizing as well. Its packaging is so convenient as opposed to exfoliators in a jar type package. It retails for only $3.

Matte Lip Color

Out of all of the lip products e.l.f. has to offer, these are my personal favorite. They come in so many colors and are very pigmented and long lasting. My four favorites include Rich Red, Wine, Natural, and Tea Rose. The are pictured in the photo above respectively. Wine is almost always out of stock so if you come across it I’d snag it while you can!

Nourishing Night Cream

This is my most recent purchase from e.l.f. and it is amazing. It hasn’t broken me out and I have really sensitive skin. I wake up with hydrated skin every morning and I have this cream to thank for it.

E.l.f. has so many products to try and I’ve only tried a handful but these are my go-to products  from the brand. Leave your favorite products from e.l.f. in the comments! Thanks for reading!

December Goals | 2015

Can someone please explain to me where November went? Regardless, DECEMBER IS HERE! Not only do I love the holidays, but I was born on Christmas Eve, so it’s also my birthday month (the big 21)! I cannot explain how excited I am that this month is finally here. With that being said, its time to set some goals!

I started this series last month, in which at the beginning of the month I will be posting my goals for the month. I found this to be very helpful for me in November and I actually achieved all of my goals! (Okay, I only went to the gym twice, but hey it’s more than nothing). I’ll have more motivation in December to go to the gym though and if you read on you’ll see why…

1. Relax

This semester has been so incredibly stressful for me. I took on way more responsibilities than I could handle. With the semester coming to an end (finally) I really plan on relaxing my mind during this winter break. I want to come back to school feeling refreshed and ready to finish my junior year with a bang. This leads me to my exciting news…I’m going on a cruise in January!!!

2. Gather things for our cruise

Yes, I’m the luckiest girl in the world! In the beginning of January, Bryan and I are going on a five day cruise from Miami to Mexico! My summer clothes are all packed away for the winter however this month I want to start gathering everything together for the cruise. Also included in “gather things”is my body. I really have to hit the gym. At least now I have some motivation!

3. Start preparing for the LSAT

So much for relaxing… This summer I plan on taking the LSAT which is a standardized test every student in the hopes of attending law school must take. I want to begin studying over winter break that way I have enough time to focus and am not stressing over other schoolwork. I have a feeling it won’t be easy trying to study when I just want to relax for a month but I think if i really set my mind to it I can do it!

4. Save money for spring semester

I go back to work over winter break which is pretty exciting considering I’m fairly broke after the semester. I want to come back to school with enough money for books and groceries and all of that fun stuff. Hopefully over break I can put aside some money for the spring.

That does it for my goals this month! I can’t wait to see what December brings 🙂
